MUSIC FOR OUR LONELY NIGHTS

"On several occasions over the past few years, I’ve had the pleasure of receiving messages from dance and theatre audiences asking where they could listen to my other music. With no album, no streaming platforms, and not even social media, I had nothing. I often didn’t even reply to those messages, out of shyness, out of awkwardness. And it made me feel as though I was letting love stories fade away. Often at night, during my composition sessions, I think of these people and others—perhaps you—near my piano. I imagine them alone, as I am, in a luminous night, and I dedicate my music to them. This is how my first solo album project came into being : Music for Our Solitary Nights.»

Inspired by Debussy, Björk, the opening bars of the second movement of Beethoven’s Third Piano Concerto, and the songs of the public elementary school where he first learned to love music, Music for Our Lonely Nights unfolds as a landscape of memories at the piano: sometimes through melancholic melodies, sometimes through virtuosic surges, and sometimes through an augmented piano surrounded by electronic instruments pulsing with frantic heartbeats, like the sonic landscape of an enchanted night.
